STYLE ICONS

On this page of the blog, I would like to introduce you to 'My Bahama Mama's'.  The Original Mama's!  Well the first one that I ever knew was my mom's mom, Merlene Elizabeth Deal.  Boy could she cook!  She was the reason why we all cook love to cook and eat.  My grandmother had eleven children, and ten, of whom are still roaming about the earth, bless their hearts.  She is now deceased at age 77, and cooked for 50 of those years.  I use to wake to the smell of food in the morning, and there was always hot bread baking in the oven, six days a week.  What I most remember about her, aside from being 'the Best' cook in the world, is that she always fed people who came to her door for food.  She never turned any hungry person away, and I loved that about her.  Merl (was what they called her), had the biggest pots you could imagine, and she filled them almost everyday, but Sunday.

My mom is the next Bahama Mama, I ever knew.  She has class and style just like her mom, she even followed in her gift of cooking.  We all have the food bug passed down to us.  Linda Darnell Deal now lives in the US and was a wonderful mom growing up!  She took good care of me, the best she knew how with the tools she had to work with.

Mom and Me, looks like 3 years old...

Good hearted person, she will do anything to help you if should can.  If there is one lesson I've learned from her, it would be determination.  She always dreams, always hopes, and always perseveres, and I am inspired by her.

Now, about Me.  I am Bahama Mama to my husband and, the children.  I am a self-proclaimed Bahama Mama.  They don't embrace the name, but they will sooner than later.  They love it, but just don't know it yet.
